EVN and Vestas discussed cooperation on renewable energy development, operational technologies, and wind power project management on November 20, 2025, in Hanoi.

Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz noted that Vietnam is currently one of Vestas’ key markets in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a strategic partner under the Vietnam–Denmark Green Strategic Partnership. Building on this foundation, Vestas expressed its intention to continue supporting the Government of Vietnam and EVN in developing wind power, strengthening energy security, and enhancing system operation capacity amid the rapid expansion of renewable energy sources.

Mr Raphael Huot, Vice President of Vestas for the Asia region, shared that the company operates 35 wind farms in Vietnam, with a total installed capacity of approximately 1.6 GW. Vestas is also developing approximately 1 GW of new wind projects, including 350 MW that have already been incorporated into the revised Power Development Plan VIII. According to Vestas, Vietnam has enormous wind power potential, particularly offshore, which could play a vital role in achieving carbon neutrality and ensuring long-term energy security.

During the session, Vestas also shared global best practices in managing and operating power systems as they transition toward higher levels of automation and greater integration of distributed energy resources.

President and CEO Nguyễn Anh Tuấn expressed EVN’s appreciation for the practical support provided by the Danish Embassy in recent years, especially through training programs on information security and cybersecurity for EVN and the broader electricity sector. He also acknowledged Vestas’ strong presence and long-term investment in Vietnam’s wind power sector, which has contributed significantly to enhancing national energy security and supporting the Government’s clean-energy objectives.

Mr. Tuấn emphasised that EVN values the insights shared by Vestas and will continue to provide recommendations during the review and finalisation of regulations related to power system operation and the electricity market.

Vestas, the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, is a global leader in delivering end-to-end solutions for both onshore and offshore wind projects, including design, manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance. The company has installed 193 GW of wind turbines worldwide and employs more than 35,000 people, operating and servicing approximately 59,800 turbines across the globe./.
