Vietnam approves list of key national energy projects for 2025–2035

 - Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has signed Decision No. 2634/QD-TTg dated December 2, 2025, approving the List of Nationally Important and Priority Energy Projects for the period 2025–2035. The decision takes effect from the date of signing and replaces Decision No. 270/QD-TTg issued on April 2, 2024.

According to the approved list, the priority projects include:

1. Power Generation Projects – 32 projects

- 19 thermal power plants

- 02 nuclear power plants

- 09 hydropower plants

- 02 offshore wind power projects

2. LNG Infrastructure – 07 projects: Development of LNG storage facilities and infrastructure for import, distribution, and power generation.

3. Gas-to-Power Chains – 07 projects: Integrated gas–power clusters aimed at optimizing supply and ensuring energy security.

4. Power Grid Systems – Multiple transmission and interconnection projects

- 12 projects for grid connection and capacity release of power sources

- 08 projects enhancing electricity import capacity

- 14 projects strengthening transmission and power supply for major load centers

5. Renewable Energy Industry & Services – 03 inter-regional projects

Implemented in the South Central and Southern regions, including:

- High-voltage (HVDC) subsea cable manufacturing plant for renewable energy transmission

- Renewable energy industry & services hub in Ho Chi Minh City

- Renewable energy industry & services hub in Khanh Hoa

6. Oil Refining & Petrochemical – 01 project

- Upgrade and expansion of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery

The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review and, when necessary, consolidate proposals for adjustments to the list, ensuring alignment with practical demands, and to submit recommendations for the Prime Minister’s consideration and approval./.
