The performance of EVN in July 2024 and targets for the following months

 - The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) said, in July 2024, in the context of continuously increasing electricity demand and storms, tropical depressions, and heavy rains and floods in many areas in the Northern mountainous region affecting power supply, as well as several power grid projects, the EVN continuously to ensure safe and stable power supply, serving socio-economic development, meeting people's daily needs.

The total electricity output of the whole system in July 2024 reached 27.7 billion kWh, an increase of 6.9% over the same period in 2023. The largest daily electricity consumption output reached 964.3 million kWh with a maximum capacity of 46,298 MW.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the total electricity output of the whole system reached 179.44 billion kWh, an increase of 11.5% over the same period in 2023. The output and proportion of mobilized power plants of the whole system in the first 7 months of 2024 are as follows:

- Hydropower: 40.9 billion kWh, accounting for 22.8%.

- Coal thermal power: 96.4 billion kWh, accounting for 53.7%.

- Gas turbines: 14.65 billion kWh, accounting for 8.2%.

- Renewable energy: 24.02 billion kWh, accounting for 13.4% (of which solar power reached 16 billion kWh, wind power - 7.3 billion kWh).

- Imported electricity: 3.07 billion kWh, accounting for 1.7%.

The electricity transmission output in July 2024 was estimated at 22.43 billion kWh (up 8.3% over the same period in 2023).

The accumulated in the first 7 months of 2024 was estimated at 121.99 billion kWh, up 12.7% over the same period in 2023.

The commercial or sale electricity output of the whole EVN in the first 7 months of the year reached 160.41 billion kWh, up 13.52% over the same period, of which the electricity growth of some typical components were as follows: Electricity for daily life increased by 14.7%, electricity for industry - construction increased by 12.4%, electricity for trade - services increased by 15.3%, electricity for agriculture increased by 13.9%...

Regarding business and customer services: Up to now, EVN customers paying electricity bills without cash have reached 95.59%; electricity bills paid through non-cash forms have reached 99.01%.

To achieve the above results, EVN has cooperated with banks and intermediary payment organizations to create many conveniences for customers when paying in the "digital space". At the same time, EVN has built a modern technology platform to serve customers' payment needs nationwide; apply electronic contracts, integrate with the National Public Service Portal, integrate QR-code payment, and apply electronic invoices according to new regulations of the Ministry of Finance.

EVN has also built the EVN-Connect digital ecosystem, and strengthened connection with digital transformation platforms of the Government, ministries, agencies, localities and partners to maximize the exploitation of national common data sources and provide electricity services, pay electricity bills on digital platforms...

The investment and construction: Regarding power plants, the rotor of Unit 1 of the Ialy Hydropower Project (expansion) has been successfully installed. Regarding the power grid, in the first 7 months of 2024, EVN and its units started construction of 55 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 62 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV.

In particular, EVN, EVNNPT and other units continuously focus on implementing the remaining works of the 500 kV with the third line project: Quang Trach - Pho Noi.

In the conclusion announcement of the Prime Minister on July 29, 2024: The 500 kV with the third line project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, has shortened the construction time, basically completed very important tasks such as handing over the entire route site to the construction unit, completing the full supply of steel poles and materials, equipment for pole erection and wire pulling; completing and energizing the Thanh Hoa 500 kV transformer station, expanding the bays at the Quang Trach 500 kV transformer station, expanding the bays at the Pho Noi 500 kV transformer station; completing and energizing the Nam Dinh 1 - Thanh Hoa 500 kV transmission line project.

In addition, investment was also focused on Lao imported power grid projects such as 500 kV Monsoon - Thanh My, Nam Sum - Nong Cong lines, 220 kV Dak Ooc switching station... and key projects to ensure electricity supply in 2024 and the following years.

At the National Online Conference of the Government Standing Committee on Promoting Public Investment in 2024, EVN was also one of the units commended by the Prime Minister for having many public investment projects ahead of schedule and making important contributions to socio-economic development in recent times.

The Tasks for August and the last months of 2024:

Regarding electricity production and supply:

- Coordinating with NSMO to continuously and closely monitor meteorological and hydrological developments, fuel situation, generator availability and load growth to promptly update and adjust operating methods to ensure safe and reliable operation of the power system to ensure the requirements for economic operation of the power system but also meet the goal of positive water by the end of 2024 to prepare for power supply in 2025.

- Power Corporations and Companies continuously closely follow the local socio-economic development situation to analyze the structure of load components, improve the quality of load demand forecasts; and continuously implement Directive No. 20 on propaganda and implementation of electricity saving.

- Power Generation Corporations and power generation units coordinate with the dispatch unit to update the mobilization demand in the last months of the year to adjust the fuel supply plan in a timely and flexible manner to ensure electricity production according to the system needs. Strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure the availability and reliability of generators.

- Hydropower plants operate reservoirs safely during the 2024 flood season, optimally exploit water resources and closely monitor and forecast the hydrological situation to have plans to store water early in the final stage of the flood season to ensure the goal of storing water to the normal water level by the end of 2024, serving the demand for power generation, ensuring power supply for the dry season of 2025.

- The National Power Transmission Corporation operates the power grid system safely and reliably; prepares sufficient spare materials and equipment, reviews and effectively implements solutions to minimize transmission grid break-downs.

- Units strictly comply with the EVN instructions on natural disaster prevention and search and rescue; prepare plans to prevent floods and storms, ensure the safety of dams and hydropower plants ensure safety for downstream areas during this year's rainy and stormy season, which is forecasted to have many unusual developments in storms and floods.

Regarding construction investment:

In August 2024, EVN continues to urge units to concentrate forces at construction sites speed up the construction progress of key power plant and grid projects such as Ialy Hydropower Plant Project (expansion), Phuoc Thai 2 and 3 Solar Power Plants, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant (expansion), Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant; 500 kV with the third line (from Quang Trach to Pho Noi) and grid projects under construction to serve power plant connection, hydropower plant release, electricity import, load supply and power supply from the national grid to Con Dao district...

To ensure electricity for economic development and people's lives in all situations, EVN hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active cooperation of people and electricity customers through thoroughly using electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 to 15:00) and in the evening (from 19:00 to 23:00).

In particular, pay special attention to using air conditioning reasonably, only turning on the air conditioner when necessary, setting the temperature at 26 - 27 degrees Celsius or higher; at the same time, pay attention not to use many high-capacity electrical devices during peak hours./.
