List of clean energy projects in Gia Lai Province’s planning (Updated December 1, 2025)

 - The People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province has just approved the adjustment of the provincial plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. In the energy sector, new projects have been updated and added according to the allocated capacities, while also incorporating projects aligned with Prime Minister’s Decision No. 768/QĐ-TTg dated April 15, 2025, on the adjustment of the National Power Development Plan VIII.

This adjustment aims to ensure consistency with the province’s socio-economic development goals, while accurately reflecting the demand and clean energy potential in the area.

Newly included projects in the plan are as follows:

  1. Vinh Thanh Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant (600 MW)

  2. Nhon Hoi Wind Power Plant Expansion (40 MW)

  3. Hoai Duc Solar Power Plant (50 MW)

  4. Hoai Thanh Solar Power Plant (60 MW)

  5. Nui Mot Reservoir Solar Power Plant (100 MW)

  6. Phu My Industrial Park Solar Power Plants 1 and 2 (each 100 MW)

  7. Binh An 1 Solar Power Plant (90 MW)

These projects play a key role in increasing power capacity and supporting the transition to a greener, cleaner energy system, aligning with sustainable development trends.

Alongside the addition of new projects, Gia Lai Province has also reviewed and adjusted the names, capacities, and grid connection plans of existing projects to ensure consistency with the adjusted National Power Development Plan VIII.

The total capacity of energy projects after the update reaches 4,990.15 MW, broken down as follows:

  • 34 hydropower plants (mostly small-scale) with a total capacity of 457.41 MW, expected to operate during 2026-2030.

  • 43 wind power projects with a total capacity of 3,296.5 MW.

  • 18 centralized solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,030.24 MW (the largest being the Ia Ly Industrial Park Solar Power Plant in Gia Lai with 400 MW).

  • 3 biomass power plants with a total capacity of 102 MW.

  • The Hoi Van geothermal power project with a capacity of 15 MW.

  • 4 waste-to-energy plants with a total capacity of 75 MW.

In addition, the People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province has approved the inclusion of two battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the Krong Pa and Krong Pa 2 Solar Power Plants (each with 7 MW), located in Ia Rsai Commune. These storage systems will help improve load balancing and stabilize power system operation, meeting technical requirements as the share of renewable energy continues to rise./.
