According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of Department of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development (MOIT), in many recent years, energy saving activities in Vietnam were mainly focused on saving energy in industrial and transportation sectors...For the buildings the energy saving activities were concentrated on energy management system.

Therefore, constructing an energy saving model for the buildings in Vietnam is very necessary.  Mr. Lee Jong Hwan - Deputy General Director of KEPCO expressed thanks to MOIT for its supports and assistance to KEPCO in implementing Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant in Thanh Hoa province since 2017 to the presence. He also emphasized the importance of economical and efficient use of energy.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Lee Jong Hwan shared a number of information about K-SEMS, a model of energy management system in building. This model has now been successfully installed by KEPCO in 120 different buildings in South Korea and continues to be newly installed in many other buildings, workshops and universities in the country. The K-SEMS system has helped South Korea to save 10% electricity consumption and reduce 5% CO2 emissions.

We believe that today signing MOU on cooperation between our sides will mark implementing pilot K-SEMS system in Vietnam. We also hope that besides the project of installing K-SEMS system, we can expand cooperation and exchanges not only in the energy sector but also in many other fields” Mr. Lee Jong Hwan emphasized.

The main subjects for installing K-SEMS in Vietnam will be  universities, in workshops and a number of other facilities which not must spend any capital. KEPCO will bear all costs for installing the system. Payback period for installing K-SEMS system is usually 5 years.
