Tata Power scouts for Vietnamese partner for Long Phu 2 thermal power project

According to the news, this is Long Phu 2 thermal power project worth US$1.8 billion in Soc Trang province.
The company has signed an agreement with the Vietnamese government on the above-mentioned project. The pact was signed during the meeting of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong on his visit to India on November 21, 2013.
The project consists of two units of 660 MW each. Tata Power, a subsidiary of India's famous Tata Group, has been awarded the Long Phu 2 thermal power project earlier this year.
The thermal power plant, which will be based on imported coal, is likely to be commissioned by 2019-20, Mr.Sardana said.
The project will be engineered, constructed, owned, operated and maintained through a BOT company owned by Tata Power and additional investors, with Tata Power as the lead member and will reach commercial operation in accordance with agreements with the Viet Nam side.
