The International Forum ATOMEXPO will be held in Moscow

 - On June 9-11 ROSATOM will organizes the next international forum ATOMEXPO in Moscow. The event program includes a technical tour for participants to the world’s first NPP.

 

The technical tourists will visit Laboratory B (now the State Research Center - Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering, IPPE), the place where fundamentals of Russia’s nuclear power were laid. The guests will see the health physics post, reactor control board and go down to the reactor hall. Experienced staff members of the plant (some of them have worked at the plant since its construction) will tell about the history of operation of the world’s first NPP.  

Obninsk NPP is the first commercial nuclear power plant in the world. Its power capacity was 5,000 kilowatts. Now, it is in the decommissioning phase. Its reactor was shut down on April 29, 2002 after nearly 48 years of successful operation.

The International Forum ATOMEXPO is the largest exhibition and business platform for meetings and negotiations of the world nuclear power leaders The Forum will include an international specialized exhibition and congress to be attended by the representatives of international, governmental and non-profit organizations, Russian and foreign companies; as well as leading nuclear industry experts.to be attended by the representatives of international, governmental and non-profit organizations, Russian and foreign companies; as well as leading nuclear industry experts.  

The Forum’s main theme is «Nuclear power - condition for energy stability». The main objective of the Forum is to provide a venue for international nuclear power and processing industry leaders to openly discuss and identify the place and role of nuclear energy in the 21st century energy mix; study key challenges and problems faced; as well as assess world energy market development scenarios.
