Announcing the adjustment of planning of Dung Quat Power Center

 - On February 28, in Quang Ngai city, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in coordination with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to organize a ceremony to announce the adjustment of the site planning of the Power & Gas Center in Central Region - Dung Quat Power Center.

According to Decision No. 2612 / QD-BCT dated on 25 July 2018 of the MoIT on approving the adjustment of the construction site planning for the Power & Gas Center in Central Region - Dung Quat Power Center, the new site of the Dung Quat Power Center is selected at Dung Quat Economic Zone in Binh Thanh commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province.

The adjustment includes to supplement the Dung Quat 3 Power Plant (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine - CCGT) with a capacity of 750 MW using gas from Blue Whale field, invested by EVN to the reserve site in the location of Dung Quat Power Center having been planned. The project expects to be put into operation in 2024 – 2026.

So, in Dung Quat Power Center there will be three power plants (CCGTs) with a capacity of 750 MW each as Dung Quat 1&3 invested by EVN, expected in operation in 2023 and 2024 – 2026; Dung Quat 2 invested by Sembcorp (Singapore) in BOT form and expected in operation in 2024; and a reserve site for a CCGT with a capacity of 750 MW.

The Dung Quat 1,2,3 projects are designed with the advanced technology and high efficiency and have a shared infrastructure in Dung Quat power center. The total investment level for the projects estimated at around US$ 2.5 billion.

When completing the construction, these power plants will participate to the socio-economic development in Central region, in particular, and in Southern region through 500 kV transmission system, in general.
