Green energy: a highlight on the sidelines of the ASEM 11

 - Economic cooperation, green energy, environmental protection and climate change prevent were the main contents of the 13 bilateral meetings between Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc and leaders of the Asian and European nations on the occasion of His visit to Mongolia and participation in ASEM 11 from July 13 to 16.

At the meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat two sides were unanimous in extending cooperation in potential fields as mineral mining, agriculture, light industry and pharmaceuticals, not to allow bilateral trade turnover to be at low level of $35 million as currently.

Prime Minister J.Erdenebat said, since the visit of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai in 1999, this visit has a special significance in opening a new page for traditional relationship between two our countries. Mongolia welcomes Vietnam to invest in infrastructure development and mineral mining in Mongolia.

At the meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipila, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc undertook to create more favorable conditions for businesses of Finland to invest in green, renewable energy and renovation – creativeness technologies in Vietnam. PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc also asked Finland to continue providing ODA as a priority for Vietnam, especially in environmental and climate changing fields.

At the meeting with President of S. Korea Park Geun hye, two sides were unanimous to promote economic-commercial relation, create a new investment wave of S. Korea to Vietnam, especially in the fields of high techs, energy and transport. Both sides were also unanimous to raise ODA scale in following stage and increase ODA budget for the projects of green growth and climate change facing.

At the meeting with Prime Minister of Germany Angela Merkel, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked two sides to closely cooperate in prior areas as renewable energy and climate change facing. PM Phuc also engaged to create favorable conditions for Germany to strengthen investment to Vietnam in areas Germany is strong and suitable development orientation of Vietnam as manufacturing industry, green and renewable energy, high techs, infrastructures and logistics services.

At the meeting with Prime Minister of Poland, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc high appreciated contribution of Poland to ASEM on coping with the global challenges, especially on security of water sources. PM Phuc welcome efforts of Poland to strengthen EU – ASEAN connection and promote the projects on sub regional cooperation, especially Mekong – Danube cooperation.

To strengthen moreover multi-sided relation, two sides were unanimous to promote negotiation for early signing framework agreement on financial cooperation, efficient using an EUR 250 million credit Poland favors Vietnam.

At the meeting with Prime Minister of Nederland Mark Rutte, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc high appreciated two countries signing relationship on strategic partnership in adaption to climate change, water management, agriculture development and food security.

Two sides were unanimous to concretize the visibility and recommendations of Mekong River Delta Program (MDP) into material measures. PM Phuc also emphasized, Vietnamese government is ready to create favorable conditions for businesses of Nederland to strengthen investment in preferential areas in Vietnam as energy sector.

At the meetings, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed determination of Vietnamese government to bring relationship, especially economic cooperation into the depth and substance.  

PM Phuc would like the partner countries to support Vietnam to strengthen it’s role and responsibility in international organizations and continue to closely cooperate with Vietnam in the regional and global important multilateral forums.
