Groundbreaking construction of a longest in Vietnam sea crossing 110 kV overhead power transmission line

To carry out direction of Prime Minister on investment to constructing power transmission lines from National Power System to the near-shore islands of Kien Giang province, EVNSPC has implemented the Investment Project for electricity supply to the island communes of Kien Giang province, with a total investment of over VND 1,500 billion, since August 2014. The project will supply electricity for 6,800 households of 7 island communes of Kien Giang province as: Hon Heo, Hon Nghe (Kien Luong district); Hon Doc (Ha Tien town); Lai Son, An Son and Nam Du (Kien Hai district); Hon Thom (Phu Quoc district ).
The project is divided into 3 investment stages.
The project of powering Lai Son island commune that would be implemented in 2015 – 2016 period includes 2 items as An Bien – Lai Son 110 kV line with a length of 43.9 km, among which, 19.4 km on the mainland and 24.5 km on sea, a longest in Vietnam up to now sea crossing overhead line with a power transmission capacity of 70 MVA and Lai Son 110 kV transformer substation, capacity of 2x25 MVA with an immediate installation of a 25 MVA transformer.
According to the plan, the project will supply electricity to 1,956 households in Lai Son on 30/4/2016 occasion. And the project can provide with a maximal power generation up to hundred million kWh per year, many times more than current generation from on site diesel generators.
