PTSC, VSP, PETROCONs will establish a complex to develop offshore wind power value chain

Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong considered that, in the context of energy transition in Vietnam and around the world, when fossil energy forms are gradually decreasing, renewable energy, especially offshore wind power will be the form of the future energy, for meeting the energy demand of Vietnam in the coming years. The draft Power Development Planning VIII also sets 7 GW target of offshore wind power projects, accounting for 4.8% of total power capacity by 2030 and 66.5 GW target by 2045.

As a state-owned enterprise operating in the field of oil and gas exploitation with the main location at sea, PVN and its member units have many advantages, potentials and capacities to implement the offshore renewable energy projects. This has been proven recently when PTSC actively participated in providing services for the majority of offshore wind power projects to domestic and foreign contractors. Besides, Vietsovpetro has also been providing related services to implement the sea projects.

At the meeting, leaders of PTSC, Vietsovpetro, and PETROCONs reported to PVN leaders the specific situation of ongoing work related to service provision activities for the offshore renewable energy projects.

The leaders of PVN and units have exchanged, discussed and made recommendations to create favorable conditions for the units, to put the service advantages into opportunities for actively participating in renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power projects in the near future.

Listening to reports and discussions at the meeting, PVN Chairman affirmed that the offshore renewable energy will be a great development opportunity for PVN in the current energy transition. Therefore, the service units, besides continuing to implement and fulfill their assigned production and business tasks, need to strengthen and actively research potential opportunities to participate in the offshore energy value chain.

Through the field survey, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong highly appreciated the capacity, experience, facilities and human resources... to meet implementing the offshore renewable energy projects. He called the units to actively participate in projects with the role of constructors in accumulating experience for preparing to participate in the large projects in future. While looking for opportunities, it is necessary to prepare to train competent cadres suitable for implementing and developing the projects. On the other hand, it is necessary to develop relevant internal processes and regulations for meeting the requirements of investors participating in offshore renewable energy projects.

Finally, PVN Chairman assigned PTSC, VSP, and PETROCONs to research for establishing a complex for developing the renewable energy value chain, strengthening cooperation and promoting each other's capacity, and meeting the requirements of the domestic and international investors in this field.
