Signing MOU of Kien Luong 1 BOT Thermal Power Project

The 1200 (2x600) MW Kien Luong 1 BOT TPP under Kien Luong Power Center located in Ba Hon Bay area, Kien Luong town, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang Province is a project approved in the National Power Development Planning in 2011 – 2020 period, with an out look up to 2030 (Power Master Planning VII) and assigned to TEC for investment.
The Kien Luong 1 is a thermal power project fired by imported coal, developed in Mekong River delta to contribute to ensure electricity supply for economic development and energy security for the southern region particularly and the country generally in coming years.
After the government acceptance for Kien Luong 1 TPP transferring from Build - Operate - Own (BOO) to Build - Operate - Transfer (BOT) form in 2014, TEC has actively worked with many foreign investors who have a lot of experience in investment, management and operation of power plants in Vietnam and in the world for investment cooperation with an aim to put the project into operation as soon as possible.
Up to date, the TEC has completed the compensation for site clearance, technical infrastructure and site ready preparation for the project investment and construction.
According to the signed MOU, the Unit No 1 of Kien Luong 1 TPP will be in commercial operation in Aug 2024 and the whole plant will be in commercial operation in Feb 2025.

The MOU signing has shown the effort of TEC investor during the project implementation and created a legal framework for negotiating the project documentations to early put the project into operation.
