Singapore may import offshore wind power from Vietnam by 2035

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tan See Leng highly appreciated the commitment of the Vietnamese Government to the net-zero target by 2050 as the same commitment of the Singapore Government.
Mr. Tan See Leng also exchanged the cooperation potential in power grid connection between Singapore and Vietnam and informed that Singapore has founded a working group for working with the ministries and agencies of Vietnam on both sides of power grid connection and committed that the Singapore state agencies will support and step by step remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of cooperation and the pilot project implementation.

Exchanging with the leader of Singapore's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of EVN Member Council informed me that recent time cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, generally and between EVN and enterprises of Singapore, particularly brought good results. EVN is also cooperating with Singapore Sembcorp Group for developing human resources, a smart power grid, and renewable energy...
Regarding the grid connection between Vietnam and Singapore, EVN has directed Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC 2) in coordination with Sembcorp to research the feasibility of the project. The leaders considered the support of the state management agencies of the two countries is a very important factor in researching and implementing this cooperation project.
At the meeting, leaders of the two sides expected that the Vietnam and Singapore power grid would be connected by 2035 and Singapore could buy offshore wind power from Vietnam.
