Binh Phuoc attracts Malaysia partner to invest solar power project

At the meeting, Mr. Haris F.Abdullah said that JRB plans to invest a solar power project with capacity of 200 MW and total capital of US$ 262.5 million on an area of 240 ha in Binh Phuoc province. The project is divided into two phases from which the first phase has a capacity of 50 MW, investment of US$ 87.5 million and occupies an area of 80 ha.
Binh Phuoc is considered one of the three provinces having the average number of sunny hours per year from 2400 to 2500 - the highest radiation level in Vietnam.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Hoang, the solar power planning of the province in 2017 – 2030 period is expected to be developed a total capacity of 6240 MW on an area of 7,707 ha in seven districts and towns (Loc Ninh, Bu Dop, Bu Dang, Hon Quan, Gia Map, Dong Phu and Phuoc Long).
With this potential, in recent years Binh Phuoc has attracted the solar power investors as: India Tata Power Company Ltd. which plans, in the permitted conditions, to develop a solar power project with a capacity of 100 MW on 200 ha; and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) which defines three locations where can be developed the solar power projects as: Loc Thanh commune, Loc Ninh district for 130 MW on 200 ha; and for 350 MW on 450 ha; and Tan Thanh commune, Bu Dop district for 200 MW on 300 ha.
